Classic Vehicle Restoration

Bring the Classic Back to Life

Classic vehicle restoration can range from refreshing the appearance of a solid vehicle to taking on extensive body, interior and mechanical work. Go Classic evaluates each vehicle individually and works with the owner to determine what level of restoration makes sense.

Our Philosophy

Start With the Vehicle. Then Build the Plan.

No two classic vehicles arrive in the same condition. Some need primarily paint and cosmetic work. Others may have rust, previous repairs, missing components, mechanical problems or interior work that needs attention.

Before determining the direction of a restoration, we consider the condition of the vehicle, the owner's goals, the availability of parts and the amount of work involved.

The plan can evolve if additional problems are discovered during disassembly or repair. When that happens, we communicate with the owner before deciding how to proceed.

Paint & Cosmetic Restoration

Partial / Mid-Level Restoration

Full Restoration

For vehicles that are mechanically sound but need their exterior appearance renewed. This can involve body preparation, paint, trim removal, panel adjustment and other work necessary to complete the repaint properly.

A more involved project that can combine body and paint work with selected mechanical, interior or underbody repairs. The exact work depends on what the vehicle needs and what the owner wants addressed.

A comprehensive restoration can involve extensive disassembly and attention to the vehicle's body, paint, interior, drivetrain, suspension, mechanical systems and other components. The extent of the work is determined after evaluating the vehicle and discussing the owner's goals.

BEFORE STARTING A RESTORATION

There are several things worth considering before beginning a classic vehicle project:

Parts availability — Common vehicles may have readily available replacement parts, while rare vehicles can require repair, fabrication or additional time locating components.

Extent of the build — Decide whether you're looking for a cosmetic improvement, a dependable driver, a show-oriented restoration or something in between.

Budget — Restoration work can change when previously hidden problems are uncovered.

Unexpected conditions — Rust, previous repairs, damaged components and other issues may not become visible until work begins.

End goal — Knowing how you intend to use the vehicle helps determine where time and money should be spent.

Time frame — Parts availability, added work and discoveries during the project can affect completion time.

HOW PROJECTS ARE HANDLED

Planning & Scheduling Your Project

Restoration projects are scheduled based on the work involved and available shop space. After the vehicle has been evaluated and the scope of work discussed, Go Classic will review scheduling, payment terms and the expected starting point with the customer.

Longer projects may require progress payments as work moves forward. Payment arrangements and project terms are discussed individually before work begins.

Changes to the original scope, additional requested work or unexpected conditions may affect both the cost and completion schedule.

Follow the Progress

Restoration projects can involve many stages. Go Classic documents work with photos throughout the process so customers can see how their vehicle progresses and maintain a record of the work performed.

If additional concerns are discovered during the project, we discuss them with the customer along with available options before proceeding with additional work.
